Vista Nova caters for children with physical disabilities, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida and other physical and medical conditions, children with specific learning disabilities and some children on the spectrum for autism.

All applications are required to follow a WCED protocol.

Pre Primary children (children who have not yet started school) are generally referred by the Developmental Clinic and the Cerebral Palsy Clinic at Red Cross Hospital or by professionals in private practice.

School-going children need to apply in the following way:

  • The current procedure for applications to Special Needs Schools in the Western Cape is to submit an application via the child’s current school.
  • The school will have to complete the application form with your signed consent as well as other relevant reports.
  • The school will send the application, via EMDC, to WCED Head Office and approved applications will be sent to the applicable school for children with special needs.
  • The child will be placed on a waiting list until placement is possible. The child might then be invited to come to Vista Nova for a 3 day or 5 day observation period.
